Abraham Darby Academy

In Partnership with Kier Construction, Constructional Timber was tasked with the Manufacture, Supply and install of both the Larch Glulam Columns and the Spruce Grid shell roof.

The project embeds sustainable credentials through integrated architectural, engineering and landscape design. In line with client aspirations, energy efficiency, minimising  energy consumption and reducing lifecycle costs were the main objectives of this structure. The timber structure and external timber cladding are all certified and in addition the large structural timber members act as carbon sinks. The carbon stored within the primary school structure alone is equivalent to approximately two years of CO2 emissions. The development was awarded BREEAM ˜Excellent”.
